Missing PROPLUS.msi - Can't solve problem alone!!
When I try and open Microsoft Excel, I am prompted to install "Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage. I have my original Windows XP Home Edition disc, plus I've followed the suggestions off the Microsoft website but this hasn't resolved the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

it may sound a bit stupid but i have to ask any way
have you installed windows office on to your computer as it does not come installed with windows xp home it is a different piece of software
if you have not installed it that is your problem

if you have installed it already try uninstalling it then reinstalling

Spud,
Nothing is a stupid question when it comes to me and computers, so excuse my lack of knowledge.
When you say Office, does this account for Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc? If so, then yes, I installed this when I first got the computer. All the other applications open just fined, its simply Excel which causes the problem (so far anyway) I'll try and find my software disc and uninstall/install etc.
Would I be right in thinking this will only unistall the software, and not the documents attributed to these programmes (told you I'm a bit stupid)
Cheers for your time.
Adam.

no you are right to ask your saved documents should be save as long as you have saved them in to either your my documents or another seperate folder
by reinstalling the complete office package you should be back to square one with the excel problem if it continues i will ask you further questions to see which direction to take it but i think by reinstalling the office package we should be able to rectify your problems
one other thing you could try first before all that try right clicking on the file in question then go down to properties and just make sure that the file is not read only as this can sometimes stop you opening a file if it is just uncheck the read only and then try opening it but if it aint read only do the uninstall reinstall
]
hope this helps please let me know how you get on
