    Freeze Every 5 Seconds When Play games Or Wtach movies.

    What do i do?
    i have a problem with my xp and i reformated brought it 2 a store added memory to 736 and i have a problem wit ma computer..
    it freezes every 5 seconds and when i open my internet it takes SO long....unbelivable...takes about 10 seconds 2 open google...by home page...and i turn it off and open again and its the same. someone tell me wats wrong please thx bye

    Did you have the same problem before and after the reinstall?

    Did the store add the memory and reinstall XP?

    What is the make & model of the computer?

    Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
    Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
    Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
    Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with a freeze.

    Also:

    Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
    Note the location of your latest .dmp file.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your latest .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

    That dump points to your onboard graphics driver.

    That maybe part of the problem but does not explain XP issues.

    The added RAM could be an issue if it is not compatible.

    The quoted questions could be illuminating.

    No i didnt have the problem before..
    i donno i sent it 2 professional workers 2 add ma memory and reinstole
    1.6 ghz 736 mb memory ram, xp version.. shaw cable high speed internet. and when i went to that mannage there was alot of errors do u know how 2 fix it?

    My first thought would be to take it back to the professionals as it appears that they did something wrong.

    Memory incompatibility is quite possible. Another possibility is that BIOS might need upgrading to handle the memory.

    Or the motherboard drivers were corrupted.

    In order to work on these issues yourself you will need to ID your computer and motherboard.

    Post what is listed under Motherboard | Motherboard | Motherboard Properties

    Also what is listed under Motherboard | SPD | Device Description

    Is this a custom built computer? Or a Dell ... or an HP ... or a ... ? Plus model and # ... e.g. Dell Dimension 5400.

    Also you can post some of the Event Viewer errors; especially any that repeat themselves.

    i know man its downloading.....can it maybe be ma internet... because ma pages load like this let me tell u

    well i open site and when i get comments i see it i delete it and when i go back 2 main page its still says 1 comment and doesnt change until like 5 mins or so. when i play games ma ping is very good but it just freezes a lil adn goes again ma ping gets lag spikes its wierd could it be ma internet cable ?

    It could be alot of things...

    What type of internet connection do you have?

    What is the model # of your Compaq Presario?

    If everything was OK before you added RAM then my first suspect would still be the RAM.
