    Angry ASDL Modem disappears after installing SP2

    I am on AOL using a broadband BT Voyager 105 external modem which works fine until I install SP2 then the modem disappears and I cannot reinstall it because windows can't see it! I have tried the AOL live help and telephone help but they have no idea why this is happening and in the end there solution was "leave the service packs off". The amazing thing is that when I uninstall SP2 the modem is back where it was and working fine? I have now been on this problem for the past two months because it was exactly the same problem with SP1. I have also tried the same on my sons computer and exactly the same happens! Can anyone solve this riddle as I'm running short of hair to pull out.
    Regards Mick.

    Maybe the BT site will be helpful;

    Click on the "User Guide" for Support, FAQ's, Drivers, etc.

    Sorry if you've alraedy been there

    Ive had a look through some broadband forums, and it seems that AOL9 (if thats what you are using) and sp2 dont play nicely together (http://www.aol.co.uk/about/help/faqs/windows_sp2.html). As for solutions, theres nothing solid. It seems alot of AOL users have simply uninstalled sp2.

    I've just cracked it. when I came to realise that there were actually no usb devices working.
    1) Go to Device Manager
    2) Click on "Universal Serial Bus Controllers"
    3) Right click on SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller( or whichever is the ENHACED HOST CONTROLLER)
    4) Choose Properties.
    5) It will say under General "No drivers are installed for this
    device".
    6) Click on Driver Tab.
    7) Click Update Driver.
    8) Choose No to Connect to the internet and click NEXT
    9) Choose Let windows search automatically.
    10)Click NEXT and you should see a file transferred and your
    Modem and other USB DEvices will be working.
