    ati2dvag.dll

My Toshiba Laptop is crashing when I boot up, a blue screen appears with a message saying that the ati2dvag.dll is causing a problem. Does anyone have any clues as to how I can remedy this cursed problem from happening again

Is this a new problem? Were things working ok before?

ati2dvag.dll is your ati video driver.

Did you add a new card? Did you uninstall old drivers before installing new?

    http://www.google.com/search?q=ati2dvag.dll

Are there any more details to that error message?

Try booting into Safe Mode & check your ATI card in the Device Manager: Start/Run/ devmgmt.msc | Display Adapter

Also try dxdiag: Start/Run/ dxdiag | Display

Also if your blue screen has been dumping memory:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your latest .dmp file.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your latest .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

Jephree, Thanks for the reply and suggestions, I will follow your tip.
This first happened a few months back, then stopped, it returned again about a week ago.
I have added a few programmes, during the good period, such as Adobe Acrobat and a Crm package and my spyware detected and removed a couple of nasty things that were in my computer. Cheers

What is the exact model of Toshiba?

From the above links there are other Toshiba specific issues with this driver.

Have you upgraded the video hardware or is it the original?

That laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP Integrated Graphics Controller.

I cannot find a driver update at ATI.

I would try in Safe Mode to access the Device Manager & attempt to update the driver there.

Also I see Toshiba has a 1 year warranty.
