fastfat.sys problem
I have just upgraded an old computer with some new ram and when i boot machine i get the stop error fastfat.sys corrupt or missing. I unerstand now it is because of the ram. ( everything works perfectly without it)
However I do not understand why it is only windows XP that has this problem with ram. Bios recognizes the ram and i can boot the machine in dos and everything works.
DOH
Any help on forcing the XP to swollow my new ram would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying that xp is bootable and working?
Just an annoying error message?
Or did I read you wrong?
Most of what I read associates this error with boot problems (as in not being able to boot). Most advise a repair of xp from the CD.
Anyway here is some stuff to look at:
google
microsoft support
annoyance forum

Yes XP works perfectly without the new ram.
It doesent work at all with it.
QED -> Bad ram
My question -> Why does the computer boot up if the ram is bad? Why does DOS work if ram is bad?
Took the ram back to the store. Kinda not my problem any more.

Maybe there was enough to boot & DOS but not enough to XP?
