Can you post the exact error message when trying to install WMP10?

What happens when you go to start/run MPLAYER2.EXE ?

"Windows Media Technologies Is Incompatible..." Information.

It's getting narrowed down! Currently it appears that wmploc.dll in C:\Windows\System32 is the file causing hell for some users while trying to WMP 10. The solution might be rather simple, navigate to C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 and copy wmploc.dll to C:\Windows\System32. Now, run the WMP 10 installer again and see what you get.
You have deleted key system files from your machine. Restore the file
    c:\windows\system32\wmploc.dll by copying it from
c:\windows\system32\dllcache (or from your XP CD) and then you should be
    able to move forward again.

Ok, I obviously missed something when I kept going to the details page, and I did as suggested, and it still will not install, and I went searching microsoft, and they have a page of errors, but I am not getting any error codes, if you would kindly point me in the right direction, I will gladly try to trouble shoot this myself, and in the mean time, before I go to work, will research this as much as I can, as It seems that it may be a simple solution, if you know where to look LoL (thought I had this search thing down)
Here is a copy of the new message, and I did try several times LoL
Sorry about my poor research...(thought I knew how to read) LoL
    Sincerest Blessings

Also says that I have the latest version, but it can not find the shorcut "do you want to browse", so it put something in there, and I can find the files, as it said "didn't finish"
Found this out trying to install 9 said lastest version installed, and the lower versions just produce the in-compatibility error....

I would suggest manually uninstalling any WMP files; then clean the registry; then run the Windows Installer Clean up; then reboot before trying again.

    Manual uninstall:
    Uninstall Programs Manually

Just because Windows XP has the Add/Remove Programs feature it doesn't mean your application will appear in the list. Furthermore, even if it does appear, it's no guarantee that the uninstall feature will work. When you run across one of these situations the items listed below will help in getting rid of the application. Be aware that these steps may not remove everything associated with the application and can impact other applications on the computer. Have a backup or restore point and use caution.

    *

Find the directory for the application and delete all the files in the directory. Delete the directory.
    *

Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
    *

Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
    *

To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present) open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
    *

Some applications have Services attached to them. If this is the case, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es, locate and delete the service.
    *

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the individual user settings and delete program references. Common places to check would be:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
[Do this for each User ID listed]
C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
[Do this for each User ID listed]

If no entries were found in the previous step and the application launches automatically, navigate to
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
    and delete the entry.

Also this is a Media Player Newsgroup for searching:

Also if the above fails try to install the Media Player Classic:
