I was wondering if anyone would tell me that the hell this is. It takes up over 80% of my CPU sometimes and I belive its causing my computer to slow down quite significantly. ANy help would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot!

It is the inverse of your total active processes.

For example: Total active = 15% then Idle = 85%

The higher this process the better! It is as it says "Idle".

A smooth running machine running no active applications should be running about 95/99% Idle.

Lucky you, mine is 0% most of the time when im just browsing the web and listening to music!!!!!! lol
