Hello,
For some reason, most of my icons changed to generic ones. The programs still open, but how do I get the icons back? I will attach a screenshot of the icon.
3. Windows maintains a cached copy of all the icons on the system to avoid having to reload the icons every time they are displayed. If this icon cache becomes corrupt then the wrong icons may be shown.
To clear the icons cache make sure you can view hidden files and then open your Windows directory in Explorer and delete the file called "ShellIconCache".
When you restart Windows the icon cache file will be automatically recreated.
Icon Cache is located here:
IconCache.db
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data
4. To clear and reset icon cache:
Right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/Advanced. Use the item
drop box and choose Icon. Change the pixel number by one. Ok your way
out.
5. Not sure if there's a simpler method, or if this will even work, but Tweak
UI has an option to "Rebuild Icons" under "Repair". You might want to download that if you
don't already have it, and try the rebuild icons option and see if that
help.
