    Start up problem

I tried to reinstall XP but the program terminated at the start. I then discovered that the reinstall was unnessessary.

Anyway, the problem is that when the system boots up I get a choice of whether to run set up or start windows normally. If I dont catch it in time it runs set up and fails. What I want is for the run set up option to be removed.

    All comments appreciated.

Is the Windows XP CD in the CDrom? If so take it out and see if it boots up normaly. If that's not the problem please post back to this thread and we can look into it further. HTH

Ok take a look at the boot.ini file and see if you can edit out the setup line.
Please see this THREAD for instructions on getting to the boot.ini file. (See message 5) HTH good luck

    Please see the attached document.

I deleted the last line (highlighted) and now on startup I still get 2 choices but the one that used to read run setup now reads Windows (default) and I still have to make the choice.

Ok if you don't want to have to make a choice we can fix that. Right click My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab, now click Settings under Startup and Recovery. Please see attached screen shot. After making the change be sure to click OK and you shouldn't see the OS choice screen at startup any more. HTH
