No Floppy drive
Hi all,
My floppy/d shows up in Device manager ok, but if i go to Win exployer or my computor it does not appear.
I have checked the grey cable and its properly connected, the power is connected up also.
I tried changing the grey cable around the other way and the green light remains on so i put it back to how it was before.
I also tried another floppy drive that i know is working good, but still no luck.
I have also tried updating the driver and it says it can't find a better driver than whats already installed.
Also in Device manager i have a yellow mark on the multimedia audio controller.
I would really appreciate some help, please.

OK, let's get your floppy drive sorted and then deal with the multimedia audio controller in a new thread to avoid confusion. Doesn't sound like they're related.
Just to clarify on the cabling:
- The end with the "cuts" in the cable should be connected to the floppy drive;
- The edge with the red stripe should be pointing towards the centre of the motherboard (or pin number 1 if it labelled on the motherboard).
- The edge with the red stripe should usually be pointing towards the power connector on the floppy drive.
If that's OK, go into Device Manager and right-click on the floppy drive. Go into Properties. Is there any option to specify the drive letter?
Or, alternatively, you might need to right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Manage. Go into Disk Management and then right-click the floppy drive if it appears and go into the Properties screen.

Thanks very much for my answering my post,
When the BIOS is showing at the start when turning on the PC, it goes real quick but i just noticed that it displayed that there was no number 80 connected.
I hope that will explain it a bit more clearer for you, the cables look to be right, the red side / cut side of the grey cable is nearist to the power connection of the floppy, and i have had them in the M/B, both ways with no sucess yet.
There is no option that i can see in device manager, and the floppy doesn't appear in disk management.

Just a quicky on the 80 error:

Is this a new problem? Was it working OK before?

Thanks Jephree,
I really apreciate both of your assistance, it helps a learner like myself to sorta understand a little about these machines.
The problem has been resolved now, it was connected up ok & the floppy itself was ok too, but the problem was in the CMOS settings.
I was just looking at the settings and my eyes went down the page to the floppy drive setting, i couldn't believe that i missed that, so easily.
I got a good look at what the no 80 was, i paused it and seen it was" Secondary ide channel NO 80 conductor cable installed"
I also sorted out that multimedia problem as well.
Anyway its working good now, a huge thanks for your help.
