primary hard drive 0 not found?

Idk how it happened lol, but i just woke up one morning to find that my computer was off. so i turn it on and it only loads up the dell logo screen then after it shows me this:

Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A05
    Copyright 1985-1988 Phoenix Technolgies Ltd.
    Copyright 1990-2002 Dell Computer Corporation
    All rights reserved

    Dell system dimension 8200
    www.dell.com

Primary hard drive 0 not found
Strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility

ive tried f1 and it just brings me back to the same screen again. i dont know exactly what the problem is, ive ran diagnostics no problems there. ive cleared the NVRAM that someone stated to do in a similar topic but no avail. ive cleaned out my computer from any dust and checked all cables to see if any were loose.

please provide me with any and all solutions to this problem. thanks

Do you hear the HD spin up? Does the Bios recognize the HDD?

    Hi there
it may that ur HDD FAT has been dmaged. or physically damaged. if physically damaged, u can shure if it detects in bios. if ok, try to format it and install the os again. if u want to get the data go to website:www.getdataback.com
that will give u relife. have nice days.

    Alot of info here:

    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8200/

The first step would be to open the case & unplug & then replug the IDE ribbon cable both at the hard drive end & at the motherboard's.

If it is not a bad ribbon & or IDE connection that basically leaves the BIOS & or Hard Drive itself.

I see no BIOS downloads for the 8200 but you can check your settings in the setup (F2). Set all to Default.

If you can determine the manufacturer of the hard drive you can use thier diagnostic to check the drive.

If you have another hard drive you can check the connection/ board issue by seeing if the BIOS will detect another drive.
