Problem with running a game- help plz!

    Hey
I'm having troubles running a computer game. It is a new game that just came out and i've got it installed already. When I put the disc in it runs and gives me the option to "play game" and all of the other options like that. I click on "play game" and it goes through all of the logos but when the game screen comes on it instantly goes green and purple with giant pixels and then my computer sends an error saying that it has experienced a problem and needs to be closed. My computer meets all of the game's requirements. At first I figured it was the video card so I found the site for my card and got the latest update. That has done nothing, the outcome of the game is still the same.

I don't know what else to do. Please give me any ideas you may have.
    Thank-You

What is the game? What is the Video Card? Any other problems?

What are the exact error messages?

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.

The game is Empire Earth 2. The video card is Intel(R) 82845g Graphics Controller.
That is the only problem I am having with the game. The error message is the standard one that you recieve when Internet Explorer needs to close..."Empire Earth 2 is experiencing some problems and needs to close." Then it gives you the option to send a report to microsoft so that in future development they can try and fix the problem or you can click "dont send".

1.5 GB of uncompressed hard disk space for game files
    DirectX® 9.0c (included)
DirectX®-compatible sound card and speakers or headphones
    4X CD-ROM drive
    Microsoft® compatible mouse and keyboard

Look under: Start/Run/ dxdiag | Display

What are the details there for the Device?

    Are the 3D options working?

Oh, and the event id is "1000" and the source is "aplication error"
I'm pretty sure that is the error.

Yes, that is the one I have downloaded. I downloaded the first one on the list. There are two downloads on that list but what are the differences between the two? I can't find the difference so I'm wondering if maybe I downloaded the wrong one?

I'm pretty sure that you got the one you wanted. The other is for programers.

    IDENTIFYING THE SOFTWARE VERSION NUMBER
    ************************************************** **********

    1. Right click on "My Computer" icon and then click on "Properties".

    2. Click on "Hardware" Tab and select "Device Manager".

    3. Select "Display adapters" then Double click on the graphics controller shown.

    4. Click on "Driver" tab. The graphics driver version should be listed on driver version.
Also you can see this via: Start/Run/ dxdiag | Display | Driver

    Is this a laptop?

I am still drawn to the conclusion that that chipset is not compatible with the game but to check it further try to run the game & note the time.
You will notice in the event viewer that errors are listed by time.
Check both the application & system tabs for errors that coincide with this time.

Again; just to clarify; you are having no other graphics problems?

No, this computer is fairly new and this is the only graphic problem I have ever had on it. This is a desktop computer, not a laptop. I just ran the game again and noticed a new error that pops up. It is titled "empire earth 2:unhandled exception". It says:

at the bottom of the writting is has a button that says "debug" and one that says "quit". I clicked the debug button and an error pops up saying "ee2.exe has encountered a prtoblem and needs to close."

below is the error that was under application in event viewer at the time i tried the game.
