how to screen shot a dvd?
i tried to screenshot part of american beauty so i could make some artwork from it, i tried used media player 10 on xp sp2 but it didnt work as when i copied it into paint it had a sort of copy right , its hard to explain but it didnt actualy screen shot? just sort of blank page, anyway just wondering if any of you know how to properly screen shot part of a dvd?

yes, when you do a screenshot and copy it into a prog like paint, it is like a blackish box and if you leave mp10 open in the background, you can watch the film in ms paint, but this is not what you are trying to do lol. have you tried any other dvd players to do try !Quick Screen Capture here: http://www.etrusoft.com/download.htm
Also, did you pause the film before you took the screenshot?

another option is to take a picture using a digital camera, but this way you may get some loss of quality

yea thats what happening in the way u can sorta see the film ?:S and yea i paused it , just bout to get quick screen capture now, aint tried camera might have to resort to it

I was trying to get a screenshot of the 3 mini coopers coming out of the tube on the italian job but i gave up!! lol

nope i tried that software but it didnt work! tried screen capture and screen shot maker, stil not luck, taking a picture didnt actualy come out that bad, stil going to mess on with other ideas b4 i resort to that tho

i disabled it but then media player wudnt play it atall!

i also tried making the master screen ( as in the main window open ) NOT media player in order to hopefuly confuze it have it so media player was in background but with the right pic still showing but it didnt work!!!
is there no way of getting round this?

Download a trial copy of CyberLink PowerDVD. Play your DVD, there is a box with a small camera icon on the control panel - which if you click will capture the screen at that point and copies it to your clipboard. You can then paste it a into any paint or photo programme. Hope this helps.
