Accidental power cord disconnect causing startup errors
I accidentally disconnected the power cord of my laptop while online. The programs and webpages that were running were not shut down properly (of course). Now I am having trouble starting up Windows, and I cannot put the computer on standby. How do I fix this?

What exactly happens when you startup?

When I start up, Windows XP professional stalls while the "loading" bar is scrolling. I have to pull the powercord to get out of that screen. I was online when I accidentally knocked the powercord loose. The wegpage I was on has flashed right before my Windows desktop loaded, which must mean that somehow that page is still stuck as open (not closed properly) somehow, somewhere in the computer system (??). I also get an error messaage that tells me to report that my Windows has recovered from a serious error. Did I mention that the system tells me that, because of the error, I cannot put the computer in standby mode. 'So glad if you can help.

Are you still booting to the error?
Please post any exact error.
Can you still boot into Windows?
If so change this setting:
rt. click My Computer then click Properties then Advanced then Startup and Recovery Settings then unclick Automatically restart
