I have recently updated my computer for XP SP2 and now whenever I boot up my computer, I get a win32 host error, or some such nonsense. I already installed the hotfix/resolution for it, but I continue to get the error upon starting my computer.

There are a few variations on this error/event.

The exact message is important to note.

Do you get a shutdown countdown from NT Authority?

Did you turn off your AV while installing the hotfix?
