I reformatted the harddrive on the comp which i am writing this and evertime you start it up it comes up with the opion to choose mircosoft windows xp or mircosoft window. if you choose mircosoft windows xp it loads xp, and if you choose mircosoft windows it loads the 98 thing with the clouds and then goes c:\
I reformated the harddrive by taking it out and putting it in to any older computer running windows 98. Then i put it back in this computer and installed xp again.
How do i get it too just load xp staight away when i turn on the computer. thanks
Are you wanting a dual boot 98 / XP machine?
Or do you just want XP?
If the latter then I would suggest doing a Clean Install of XP.
You do not have to do any formatting.
Just boot the XP disk & let it do its' own thing.

Another possibility depending on the details:
Start | Run | Type: msconfig | OK |
Boot.ini tab | Check All Boot Paths button |
A dialog box will open detailing the location of any invalid operating
system locations | Confirm you want to remove the entry and reboot
[[Check All Boot Paths - This button will check the boot paths for all
operating systems listed in the BOOT.INI to ensure they point to a valid
operating system. ]]
Msconfig image

If there is only one you will get:
It appears that all BOOT.INI lines for Microsoft operating systems are OK.
I just want it 2 run windows xp pro. and evertime i start it up load xp staight away instead of wanting me 2 choose from 2 things. thanks. i did that thing and here is the image of it.
So are things starting OK now?
If not I would again recommend doing a Clean Install of XP.
no i got up 2 that part in the picture and not no wat 2 do now. i would prefer not 2 wipe it and do it again cause i just did that. is there any other way like deleteing the files that make it do that or something. thanks
If you were to perform a Clean Unstall of XP on that drive it should format itself thus eliminating the 98.
If you do not want to do that you can try the following work around for by-passing the boot screen.
Whether or not you can successfully remove the 98 program files is really questionable depending on how your setup went.Rt. click My Computer then click Properties then Select the Advanced tab and then the "Startup and Recovery Settings".
On this window reduce the "Time to display operating systems" to zero "0".
Make sure the drop down box above this says "Microsoft Windows XP Home
or Professional /fastdetect" and then click OK. Now the next time you
reboot the system will boot straight into XP without displaying a
choice of operating systems.
Again I would recommend a Clean Install:
