If you right click a blank area your computer reboots?

Or if you right click an icon it reboots?

Is this a new problem? Were things OK before?

Any new changes? Hardware / software?

If a new problem: have you tried System Restore?

Do you have an Anti Virus? Do you scan with AdAware / Spybot etc.?

Try a System Restore to a date before the problem:

    Start/Run/ cmd
    then type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

    Any other new problems?

You might want to follow owen's Instructions and then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).

Did it restore & you still have the same problem or did it not restore?

The only other thing I can think of is to check your settings:
via: Control Panel / Display / Desktop tab:
click Customize Desktop and select Web tab:
click or unclick Lock desktop items (depending on how they are currently set).

I can find no precedent for this symptom & so my first thought is malware or virus.

You can try these quick scans:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx

    http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

    These deeper ones:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp

    And also:

Please follow owen's Instructions and then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section. (Not in this section please).

    What is the exact error?

    Please change this setting:

rt. click My Computer then click Properties then Advanced then Startup and Recovery Settings then unclick Automatically restart

    Post back exact error messages.

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with a crash.

Also view your Error Log via:
    [1] Start Menu
    [2] Help and Support
    [3] Pick a Task
    [4] Tools
    [5] Advanced System Information
    [6] View the Error Log

    That particular error: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ef1443.xml.asp

Any new errors? Any info from the above sources (my last post)?

    You might also consider:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your latest .dmp file.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your latest .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.
