Canon printer/copier/scanner and XP2 again
Hi
I have been reading the thread (http://www.d-a-l.com/help/archive/i...hp/t-16706.html) about not being able to scan with a canon all-in-one printer/copier/scanner after installing Windows XP SP2. I am having exactly the same problem, except that my printer is the Canon MP360. I can uninstall SP2 and scanning works fine, but after reinstalling SP2 the scanner stops. The lights come on and the scanner bar moves across the glass, but the progress bar stays firmly on 0%, and eventually an error saying "unable to communicate" (or something similar) appears. I have to unplug the printer to reset it after this. Printing and copying work fine - it is only when something has to go back to the PC that there is a problem. I have reinstalled the latest drivers and done everything Canon says to try, but no luck. Did DXD (from the other thread) ever sort out the problem?

That thread ended as it ended. I never heard anything further.
As to Canon:

Perhaps try turning off the SP2 firewall. You should have a 3rd party firewall working.

Thanks Jephree
Turning off the windows firewall doesn't help. Any other ideas?

Have you completely uninstalled the printer & software with SP2 in place & rebooted & reinstalled from scratch?

Yep, I uninstalled the drivers following the Canon instructions, then reinstalled, rebooted, etc, but no joy. Here is some more info - I get exactly the same symptoms on my laptop PC, which also has SP2 installed. I have taken the printer to the Canon service agent, but they say there is nothing wrong with it.

It would seem that Canon still has SP2 issues.

I can think of nothing else but contacting Canon or else running without SP2.

Thanks Jephree - I will post again if I ever get it sorted out!
