    ethernet controller in device manager

I recently rebooted my computer (not the one I am on right now), and I had a lot of trouble with 2 of the drivers. I fixed the graphic driver by downloading something off of driverguide.com, but now in the device manager there is a problem with the ethernet controller. I tried all the cds I have on the computer to fix it, but none have the information. I have dsl, and the modem is hooked onto this computer. I was wondering if I wanted to get my other computer online, would I have to fix the ethernet controller? If the ethernet controller needs to be fixed, what should I download off of driverguide.com that would fix this problem. I have windows XP.

After searching a while, I found two different things that could possibly work.

    http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=235754
    and also
    http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=315435

I'm not sure which one, if either, that I should download. If someone could help me I would really appreciate it

What is the make & model of the controller?
What does the Device Manager say?
    Is the device red X'd?
Have you tried the drivers from the Device Manager?
