hi, my computer usually freezes after the windows screen loads (the one with the little blue bar). it will go to a black screen and nothing will work. safe mode works but i dont know what i can do in there.

i had a similar problem, but mine was trying to boot into safemode all the time and i couldnt boot at all.
Try booting into safemode and click start>Run and type in sfc /scannow
Insert the xp disk and see if it finds anything

1st try Last known Good Configuration.

Also from Safe Mode with Command Prompt you can try the sfc /scannow mentioned above & or chkdsk/f

Also try, try again.

Often boot issues will resolve themselves.

Try unplugging the computer between boots.
