I would like to increase the Hard Disk capacity from 30 to 60GB. Please advise the easy way. I don't want to lose any data.
Thanks
do you have a 30gb HD and you want to increase it to a 60gig HD, or, do you have a 60GB HD with only 30GB left and want to free up some space?
o sorry didnt see your 2nd post, do you want to get a new HD?
The easiest way and I think the only way is get another hard drive and run the one at the moment as master and the new one as slave.Originally Posted by mohammad
and if you only want one, "clone" the one you have now onto the new one then remove the old one and set the new one to master
How to increment my existing HD which is 30gb to 60gb without losing any data?
Your expert suggestions will be appreciated.
Regards

Also please respond to this thread rather than starting a new one on this same issue.
Thanks. Hope we can help!
If what you are asking is to increase the capacity of your 30GB harddrive to 60GB you can't (Unless of course the physical size of you disk is 60GB or above if so let us know!)Originally Posted by mohammad
If however the capacity of your current hardrive is only 30GB one option is to Purchase a new Harddrive from your local store or online retailer that is 60GB or above. Then Clone you current harddisk using software like "Paragon Drive Backup" or "Norton Ghost" these programs will create an image that allows you to put onto your new drive without loosing any data.
Although if you choose this method you will need a DVD Burner and alot of blank dvds or a CD Burner and tonnes of CD's deppending on the amount of disk space used. (note: you could try creating the image on your current hard drive if there is enough space and install that harddrive as the slave and the new one as the master then install the image from that hardrive instead of messing about with blank dvds or cd roms!)
Once backed up verify each disk then remove your old harddrive from your system and put in the new one setting the jumper switches to master or cable select depending on the configuration of your system. You can now proceed to install the image onto the new hardrive
Another alternative is to install a new hard drive as a slave and install a fresh copy of windows you would then see an additional hard drive in your "My Computer" area, in that drive you will find all of your old files etc
