Hi all. I have just upgraded to XP pro.
When I'm on the internet and want to open a link, I like to right click my mouse and "open a new window". When I do this, the window is always small.
I know how to drag it out to a larger size, but is there something I can do so that whenever I'm on the net and open a link it open a new window to that size? I don't want to maximize the window.
have you tried re-sizing the window, closing it and them opening it again? it worked for me when mine always opened in a small window
Hi madmikejt12.
Thanks for your reply, I tried and succeeded with what you suggested, with the D-A-L e-mail.
When I connect to this foum, (or any other net page), I R-click the apropriate heading, press "open in new window",(so that I can keep track of where I am better), and a small window still opens, even after enlarging, closing, and re-opening.
I am looking forward to more suggestions.
Gary.
When you enlarged it, did you press the square at the top right corner or did you actualy drag the edge of the window to fit the screen? have you tried both?a small window still opens, even after enlarging, closing, and re-opening.
Also try rt-clicking on your internet browser icon (either in the start menu, desktop or quick-launch) and click properties, go th the shortcut tab, at the bottom where it says "Run" change to "normal window", if it is already on that then try changing to "maximised"
This is stored in the registry somewhere, what you need to do, is open one Internet Explorer window, resize it (don't use maximize) to however big you want new windows to open as, then close it.
I've had this problem before, but once I changed it, I didn't bother trying to find out how to make it maximize automatically.
Give it a go :P
Looking at: http://www.infopackets.com/gazette/2...hed_part_2.htm
i picked out a couple of things:
and" If you feel comfortable editing the Windows Registry, you can find the following entry: Click Start -> Run, and type in: regedit; Scroll to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main, and delete the key: Window_Placement. "
" Size/place the Window where you want it. [When it's time to close the Window] ... exit by clicking File -> Close. The X [close] icon in upper right of the Window it will NOT save last position. "
As I said up there ^^ I haven't had a window maximized by defaul for a while, closing all internet explorer windows, then opening a single browser, maximizing it, and using File->Close now means all my windows are now Maximized - give it a go![]()
Hi madmikejt12,
I actualy drag the window to enlarge it, but so that I can still see the scroll bar of the original window. I do this so that when I look through several pages in the forum, instead of having to go back through each individual page to return to the begining, I can just close that window to return. I looked in "Properties", and changed from "Normal" to "Maximize". This made no differance. Thanks for trying.
dhbedson, I tried sizing the window and closing from the "File" menu, but no differance. I had a look in the registry, but I'm not confident enough to make changes, in case something goes wrong, and I can't put it right.
Thanks to both of you for trying to help, I had no problems with win 98, I just changed it a couple of times, and it stayed.
Thanks again, Gary.
Hi all, Gary here, everythings fine, I turned on the PC and, hey presto, problem solved. I recon it just takes time for the PC to learn.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
Gary.
Thanks for the update!
Let us know if we can help further in the future!
