Hi everyone,

I have two problems

1. a few months ago my floppy disk drive started buzzing and the green light comes on at intervals or if im looking at certain things on my pc, ive reinstalled windows due to other problems and it still does it, im confident its not a virus as i have firewall spyware remover and antivirus

2. i had to reinstall windows xp a few weeks ago as my pc broke, since then my standby function doesnt work, pc goes off, but fan stays on and green light flashes at front, also when i press the red button so my pc goes off completely it sometimes turns back on!

any help greatly appreciated!

1.- Disable your floppy search on your system virus check, thus any time you load a program it will try search te floppy also.

2.- Theres a way to say what function windos xp does when it goes on stanby. Control Panel----energy options---advanced options. At this point you can decide what xp will do when you go to stanby.

Click Start, Control Panel, Power Options, the Power Button can be configured there. Please see attached screen shot.

I have tried both things which you both advised me to do. I have looked at power settings before and this didn't help. Someone has mentioned it may be a problem with the Bios settings. Does anyone have any ideas.

As for my floppy drive buzzing and green light coming on at the same time for a few seconds, I totally uninstalled my antivirus system and it still buzzed.

If anybody has any further help please let me know!
