Is there some reason that you haven't installed SP2?
I thought I have installed it...haven't I?
oopsmaybe you do.
I was seeing the first Service Pack 1 but didn't see the latter xpsp2
Can you verify this? Right click My Computer then click Properties.Symbol search path is: SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
Executable search path is: C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS\system32 \drivers
Windows XP Kernel Version 2600 (Service Pack 1) UP Free x86 compatible
Product: WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTS
Built by: 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633
Kernel base = 0x804d4000 PsLoadedModuleList = 0x80543530
That screen should show your Service Pack.
When I right-click My Computer and go to System properties it says:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
ok... then I'm back to deciphering your logs. There was one indication that NDIS.SYS could have been compromised pre SP2.
Also for the future please change your dump log setting via:
Right click My Computer then click Properties then Advanced then Startup and Recovery | Settings:
Write debugging information: change to Complete memory dump.
& post any new dumps should they occur. I will get back to this ASAP.
Nothing specific yet but thought I'd pass along this:
http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-....pl?mdl=PCGK17Why is the sound of my computer's fan so loud?
The computer's fan may be running at a high speed to cool the CPU. By lowering the CPU speed, you also lower the speed and noise level of the computer's fan. Use the power schemes to lower the CPU speed.
To lower the CPU speed using the power schemes:
1. Click Start on the Windows® taskbar, and click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance, and click Power Options. The Power 3. Options Properties window appears.
4. Select Portable/Laptop in the Power schemes box.
5. Click Apply.
6. Click OK.
Maybe do some browsing at that link as well.
Will continue to look at this.
