Re: How to remove duplicate XP installation and reformat

I've tried what Jephree said, hasnt worked. I've also tried booting from CD to run a fresh installation, and it still asks which OS and logs onto XP, so it looks like it wont boot.
also make sure youre settings are set to boot from the CD-ROM drive (usualy D)

I've managed to get just the one XP using another bootable XP CD. So this is now fine, thanks for the help.

I do however, still have the battery issue, it says its charged but does not power the unit. Regarding the link Madmike submitted, I don't follow how to do it. Ive downloaded the exe, when i ran it just ran a dos window, asked to press a key, ran a report than automatically closed.

I don't follow the installation instructions below either. Easy setup or IBM BIOS setup utility program? Do I have to download those from the site then, which? It also says you can run this program by pressing F1 during the power on self test?

Another link thats been given here, but I dont know what I'm looking for, or whats suitable.

Help and advice really appreciated, I'll see how it goes here, and will consider submitting this as a new thread, but before then mike or someone may be able to help.

    Thanks.

    Look over this page first:
Troubleshooting power management issues - ThinkPad

Also found the last basic update of your BIOS:

    Release Date: 1999/09/23

    Ceck your current version here:
The BIOS information can be viewed by selecting "System Information" in the "BIOS Utility" menu:
    Power on the system.
When the message "Press F1 for IBM BIOS setup Utility" appears at the bottom right hand corner, press the F1 key. Wait for the "BIOS Utility" screen to appears.
Select System Information. BIOS version is displayed at "System BIOS Version" line.

    This other is for:
