    Picture saving problem in XP

    Hi guys.

Can I pick your brains regarding my freshly assembled/formated PC?

Is there any sort of logical order installing drivers/updates/software when you freshly format a new PC?

My new PC is fine but for one thing... I can't save any pics from a website and I can't change my avatar on MSN! When I try and do that, it automatically closes the website/MSN down immediately!

These are the specs of my PC...
    Windows XP
    ASUS P5GD2 Premium motherboard
    Intel Pentium 4 530J "LGA775 Prescott" 3.0GHz (800FSB) with HT Technology CPU
Gainward PowerPack! Ultra/2600PCX TV-DVI-DVI Golden Sample NVIDIA Geforce 6800 Ultra PCI-Express
    Corsair TWIN2X1024-5400C4PRO (2 X 512MB DUAL CHANNEL DDR2 5400 MATCHED PAIR!)
    ASUS Vento red ATX case
Enermax Noisetaker 600W EG701AX-VE(W) SFMA ATX2.0 SLI Compliant PSU (CA-021-EN) PSU
3 x Samsung Spinpoint SATA Hard drives
    Pioneer A06 DVD writer
    Mitsumi floppy

Any help would be much appreciated!
Please stop me from reformating my PC over and over again!

Thanks to all replies in advance!

P.S. I also can't get my MS Intellimouse to work thru PS2 port either. I've enabled it in the bios but it won't work. I know there's nowt wrong with the mouse as I tried it again on my old PC and it worked fine and when I use this mouse thru PS2 on my new system the light on the mouse works as you move it. This mouse works fine thur USB though...

Yep, it's still doing the same thing! I've reformated the drive and done what you've said and it's still the same! I even ran the W32.Blaster.Worm removal tool and it didn't detect anything. I also ran the AVG anti-virus software and it didn't detect any viruses.

Any ideas still? I'm at my wits end over this!

    Looking at your manual:
    http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...59&modelmenu=1
    http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us

Installing the drivers from your mobo CD. (Including SATA/RAID)
    Installing XP. (Including SATA/RAID)
    Installing your Graphics Card Drivers.
    Any other Peripheral Card Drivers.
    All Windows Updates.

Do you get any error messages? Is this from any & all websites or just MSN?

Have you check the Device Manager: RT click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager or go to start/run/ devmgmt.msc for any "!"

OK, it seems like I've got my PC up and running OK but this picture saving problem still exists. I've noticed something else though. It won't let me save anything what so ever! If there's any drivers I wanna download it won't let me download it and it will automatically close down the application regardless of what ever program I use like IE, MSN or Opera browser? Please help me as this is getting me really mad. I've done a virus check and this worm blaster check and it's both detected nothing!

Also, the mouse thing. I checked and there was no exclamation mark ! in my device manager when I plugged the mouse thru the PS2 port...

I have 100% found out that it's something to do with X-Setup. If I tweak something in X-Setup like change the location of where I would like my downloaded files (i.e on my desktop) it would close the application down. Why is this? I did a system restore back to prior to when I installed X-Setup and it's all fine again.
