How to get rid of Dorling Kindersley Application Database v 1.3

I think this was an encyclopedia which was useless and I uninstalled it using add/delete programmes.
It appears again on the list of programmes despite this and when I try to delete it I get the message C:\WINDOWS\App Patch\Custom {abe7844-4d49-4c7e-9d03-7329a6b9feac}.sdb is not installed.
I have manually deleted what I thought were the last bits of this programme and run System suite5 from V-Com which has been very good at tidying up the registry of other debris all to no effect the darned thing keeps on appearing in the list of programmes to add or delete.
    Can anybody advise me?

To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present) open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.

    Thank you,thank you,thank you.
It was a little difficult as it as the first time I had attempted to directly do anything to my registry but I got there and Dorling Kindersley has finally dissapeared from my list of programmes.

While carrying out this procedure, which as a fairly new user I hadn't done before. I found that the list of programmes it showed me in the registry included a number which I had previously deleted using add/delete programmes. To hopefully ensure that they were all gone I had also used Start/search to identify any remaining files and deleted them.I was surprised then to find them still listed in the registry as I had also used System suite5 from V-Com.Com to clean the registry of Orphan files and redundant links.
Would it do any harm to delete these from the registry and conversely would it be a usefull thing to do?

This is not unusual. If you wish to remove these entries of deleted programs it should be no problem. I am surprised that your program didn't find them (although I do not know that program). They may be remnant uninstall entries. Unless there are massive amounts of them there is probably little affect on the computer.

I would suggest backing up the registry before any changes. In regedit Click on File then choose Export then Save to your My Documents (for example).

I suggest this free registry cleaner:
    http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
It creates its' own backups & finds most leftovers including uninstall files.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful to me as I have the same problem and was at my wits end at what to do. I wasn't sure about deleting things of the computer incase it was needed or not so left things on. Again thank you I can now delete things I know are not needed for the operation of the computer.
