    Re: multiple problems

    hi
but thr's one little hitch there...im unable to install any new progs on my computer. the installation begins but just stops when it's midway (or a lil later)...the only option i have is to reboot.

also, the task manager doesnt show up when i Ctrl-Alt-Del. instead all i find is a green box on my taskbar...
    please help

I think we're at the point to ask what type of XP CD do you have?

A full version? Or was XP installed on this computer when you purchased it?

If so: do you have the Recovery Disks?

If not: what is the make & model of the computer?

Did you ever run Check Disk?

    start > run > cmd
in the new window type chkdsk/f
when prompted to run on boot choose Y & reboot
this will check for & fix any disk errors.

If you can download there are programs that can show you your Product Key.

With your Product Key you could use any borrowed XP CD to try to do a Repair re-install.

Belarc will show you your key under:

    Software Licenses
    Microsoft - Windows XP

A Repair Install will re-install XP without deleting your data or programs.

    http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

You will need to provide your Product Key in order to do this.

Have you tried downloading via Safe Mode?

Maybe your only option without an XP CD.

You might also want to try this program in Safe Mode:
