according to ebuyer (amd site didnt show much), your processor runs at 2gig. this would kind of make sense, as athlons never run at the equivalent of their model number ie. a 3000 wont run at 3gig (unless you majorly overclock it, which i wouldnt advise.)
-
Jen is exactly right - AMD processors are now named in a way that they claim reflects the performance of a similar Intel processor, but that's not actually the true measured speed in MHz or GHz. Having said that, I didn't know that there were some that were 50% out!
We've had a couple of D-A-L.com members who have found that their processors weren't running quite as quick as they ought to (e.g. a few hundred MHz difference) because their motherboards weren't set to the correct speed, i.e. Front Side Bus (FSB) set to 100MHz when they should be at 133MHz, 33% faster. Is this a system you built yourself or did it come from a reputable manufacturer?
-
This was a system built by a company that built my last system. So, what you guys saying, my 3.0GHZ processor is not running at 3 its running only 1.66GHZ (system shows me anyhow). My FSB is supposed to be 800HMZ how can I tell if that is running @ what its supposed to? My MB can support 3+GHz processor and I almost bought a 3.4ghz but, the guy that built mine said not much of a difference.
-
Where does it say 1.66GHz?
Run the D-A-L.com Online Hardware Scan (there's a link to it at the bottom of my signature) and we'll see if that gives us some more detail.
-
It said that (1.66GHz) on my system proformance. Also, when I click on that link and saved it an error message appeared. Something about script so I said "yes" continue. The hardware scan is still running does it normaly take a long time to finish?
-
No, it should only take a few seconds.
-
When I click on that Hardware scan this is what it reads:
"An error has occurred on the srcipt of this page:
Error= "type mismatch load script"
Any suggestions? Because, it (hardware scan) said "please wait...." and nothing happens.
-
Here is the results from the Hardware scan:

Do you have a program called EasyTune installed on your PC? That's Gigabyte's own program for changing the speed of the processor from within Windows, without having to go into the BIOS and do it. It might have a setting for the FSB. If it's not installed already, it should be on the motherboard CD that you got with the PC.
