Problem with PC
Hello,
Having some problem with my PC. It locked up last night when i rebooted it wouldn't load. It just stays on the Loading screen.
The spec if the PC is as following:
3.2GHz Intel P4
1024MB DDR400 RAM
ATI Radeon 9800XT
1 x 120GB HDD
1 x 200GB HDD
My problem is it sticks on the loading screen and also the second hard drive doesn't get detected any more.
I am really stuck as to what this could be, the computer will boot into Safe Mode but the second hard drive is never detected. When i try and do Windows System Restore it doesn't work. It still locks up.
Any ideas would be great.
Thank you,
Chris Mayhew

Was everything working OK previously?
Are the drives seen in the BIOS POST?
Try Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Type in chkdsk/f
when prompted to run on boot choose Y & reboot
this will check for & fix any disk errors.
If that doesn't help try the diagnostic for your hard drive:

If that doesn't help do you have a full version XP CD? or is this an OEM machine?
If the former try a Repair Install

If the latter consult the manufacturer for recovery options.

I managed to figure out that the new hard drive i have had just under a month is broke.
I took it out and everything booted fine. Tried it in another PC and it locked it up.
Thanks for the help anyway
