Whenever I turn on my PC I get a message "windows installer - preparing to install" and the hard drive is activated. I followed the instructions on a previous thread and have installed "Journal viewer" but this has not worked. I have also downloaded the updates for windows installer.

I have also run the "event viewer log" as per that thread. Under the "system tab" there are two errors for "system control manager" - event 7000 and event 7023 - though 7000 is most common. What do I do next ?

Unless you use Journal Viewer you do not want it installed.

Unless you use it remove it.
