    Sound Card Issue (??)

I'm guessing that's what it is anyway. I have a Dell Dimension 3000, less than two months old and whenever I play any type of audio, the sound quality is horrible. It's very draggy and skips alot, especially when I am playing music in the background while working on other programs. This is the case for when I stream music from the net or play an audio cd. I've checked all the audio drivers and they are all up to date.

Any ideas? I have the Windows XP Media Center Edition. Yeah, that's pretty much a joke. Thought I'd check here before I call Dell Support.

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

There is an interactive Dell page here:

    http://support.dell.com/support/trou...=19&l=en&s=dhs

Was the sound ever working ok?

If so have you installed any new hardware & or software?

    Any audio programs?

You can try going to start/run/ dxdiag

Open the Sound tab & adjust the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level

The Dell site was not much help. The only music-related program I have downloaded is Napster. Honestly, I don't know if the sound was working normally before installing Napster (I think I installed right away). I will uninstall to see if that helps.

Tried dxdiag, and there was no change.

If all else fails, I'll call Dell.

    Thanks for the help!
