Awhile ago I noticed that I cannot hear .wav files anymore. Funny thing - I can still hear cd's I play. I do not think anything is muted or the volume is down anywhere. Streaming video shows the video, but no sound come out; games don't have sound. Media player acts like it's playing, just nothing comes out.

This is my first post here. Hope I've provided enough information. This seems like an awesome site!

Can you hear Windows Sounds?

There are alot of settings via: Control Panel/ Sounds & Audio Devices
To test Windows Sounds open the Sounds tab & select an Program Event then click the ">" next to Browse.

Also as a test see if you can hear via this player:
start/run/ MPLAYER2.EXE
