    XP glitch - home page

I did something to my home page screen and now there is an empty grey column to the right side of my screen and the homepage has gotten smaller to accomodate it. I was messing with background/screensavers...what did I do?

It's really hard to say what may be causing the problem with the limited information you have provided. Did you install any new programs or anything prior to the onset of this problem? Also if you could post a screen shot showing us what you are seeing that would be a big help

Well what did you do Is this just while running IE? What does your desktop look like? Right click a blank area of your desktop to shortcut to Display Menu... Try things like turn off background (none); turn off screen saver (none); choose the default XP theme... see if these do anything?

If you put your cursor on the "boarder line" does it change to an arrow line?
i.e. <->? if so click on that and move the boundry.

You could always try a system restore to before the happening.

If none of this works a screen shot would be interesting, as Bear pointed out.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I found the answer. On the control panel under display, in the "settings" section there is a sliding switch for resolution. If you move the switch to a higher resolution setting, it responds by decreasing the size of the screen. Hence, the grey bar at the side of my screen. Weird.

    Thanks again for everyone's advice.
