    What does this mean...

I am trying to play ip to ip and other person said "he was timed out" when he was trying to ping me. What does that mean and I do I fix that?

What version of Windows do you have installed? Also do you have a firewall enabled that would block pings?

Is this an on-line game? Are you running a firewall?

does anything in this quoted post mean anything to your situation?

"Without knowing what connection you have and whether you're on a LAN at
home, it is difficult to tell you exactly what to do.

One of the problems with online gaming is finding your host IP (the one
assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider) and whether you're
running a dynamic or static IP. If you're on a dynamic setup where each
time you log on you get a different IP, you can check it at
    www.whatismyipaddress.com.

For opening ports, it depends on the game itself (some have rather odd port
requirements), and you'll need to read the manual, check the support site,
or some of the gamer sites to determine which ports are used when hosting a
    game server.

You need to check the configuration of your router and/or modem. Same thing
there, read the manuals and check the support sites. There is a pretty good
    explanation of everything involved here:

Can you find the site? Put Madden 2k5 into google. Sub search ports etc.

This was very strange, in Norton's Internet Security I said "permit all" to Madden 2k4 and yesterday I installed the new Madden 2k5 and for some odd reason it (Norton's Internet Security) block 2k4 and 2k5. I had to go into NIS (Norton's internet security) and add 2k5 and it worked. Thanks guys I appreciate your guys replies
