OK, I tried reinstalling it and it came to a screen that asked me where I wanted to install OS. I selected C: and it said that there was already an OS on that drive and that would cause problems so right now all it is doing is installing Windows XP for a third time on the same drive....HELP![]()

sorry for the text problem it's hard to read so just highlight it
If you could find the exact model of the computer we could look for on-line support. Apparently there is a different process.
Dell has a pretty good support site:
http://support.dell.com/support/inde...n&s=dhs&~ck=bt
There should be info available to clear your machine.
There is also this manual method for removing multiple copies of XP:
FAQ #20: "I have two installations of XP on the same partition........"

Ok it is installed but my commputer still has all the hardware installed and everything. I want all of my hardware installations gone because in order to reinstall my wireless internet connection I need to start over. I just want my computer to be brand new again and I don't know how to do that.....![]()

I'm just trying to get used to the forum, wish I could delete this. You sound like you'll get it working just fine without sending it back. And I just learned you can't delete a post here.

uhhhh.thanks for your help????????
What do you mean by hardware installed and everything?
Please try to clarify. The Dell disk should restore the computer to the way it was in the factory, unless, you are talking about hardware that you have added?
Also what is the exact model of the computer?
This would help alot in researching your issues.
Thanks.
