I was wondering if it is possible to unsinstall windows xp and install windows 98, as i dont have the xp cd... I want to do this to rectify certain situations my pc has been experiencing. For example, about 2-3 months ago i was very stupid uninstalling my virus protector because my internet was lagging while tryin to play a game online. This certainly fixed the lagg, but overtime i got more and more viruses. Then the pc starting freezing, and reseting on me. The games no longer worked. I reinstalled norton and ran some scans removing all possible viruses. The freezing and resesting stopped happening quite so often but games still didnt work and the freezing/reseting was still happening sometimes. Also when i when the pc resets itself and loads back up again, on the load up with white writing under the "pc health" title, "pc health ok!" changes to "pc health !" when i see this on the start up 100% of the time pc freezes while loading desktop. I have download many registry mechanics, including the lastest "registry mechanic 3" and still the my computer doesnt work at its full potential like before, i try to run my virus scans but the computer freezes while scanning everytime... Even in safe mode. I have ran out of ideas to fix this, and get my games to work again without pc freezing and reseting. So i was hoping i could get some information on formatting/uninstalling windows xp and hopefully running windows 98?.. if anyone has any ideas please send them my way. I just want to be able to have fun with my games online again ... I might add this is my 3rd attempt typing this without the computer freezing/reseting
i will write my system information on my next post as i dont want this to freeze again before i finish lol...

I might add, it was only a couple months ago everything was working fine. Until my stupidity uninstalling norton...

cheers for the help mate, everything is goin well . I know where to come for help. Also the problem with norton crashing at the "ie cache" i shared with clairre, doesnt happen anymore, i believe this is an xp problem
