Unhappy ie script error when accessing the internet via ISP

Whenever I log onto the internet via Wal-Mart Connect, I immediately see an ie script error which reads: an error has occurred in the script on this page. Object doesn't support this property or method. It also gives me a line #, char #, and code #. Then it gives me a url of: http://member.compuserve.com/new/html/live/wmnew.html

followed by Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

I always click yes just so I can continue on, but I don't think I should even be getting the error.

    Can you please help me?

Also, is it good to turn off the firewall that came with Microsoft's Service Pack 2? I recently installed the service pack and was getting disconnected from the internet, and when I called about that, I was told to turn off the firewall that came with the service pack. It seems to be staying online now, but I wonder if that is a good idea to turn the firewall completely off.

I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

    Thank you very much.

"IE script error when accessing the internet via ISP"

Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, look under browsing. Check both boxs that say disable script debugging and uncheck the box that says display a notification about every script error. After making the changes be sure to click Apply and then OK, Please see attachment.

As for the firewall I would suggest you use either Sygate or Zone Alarm, both of these are free for personal use. I would not advise anyone to be on-line without a firewall, just my 2 ¢

Hmm... Bear's solution usually works. You can try this:
    1. Click Start , and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type Regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
    3. When prompted with the DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded message,
    click OK.

Also check out this page if that doesn't work:
Script error when you are using Internet Explorer 6

Is this a new problem? Or has it always happened with your ISP?
You might want to use Ad-Aware
    & or Spybot S&D
& also HiJack This if you suspect a viral problem.

As to the firewall, yes you should run one! The third party ones Bear recommended are supperior to XP's and are configurable to your own needs & tastes

    To answer your questions...

It has just started happening in the past week or so.

I have run Spybot S&D and Hijack This.

I'm going to try what you suggested or visit the Script error link you referred me to and see what happens.

    Thanks for all your help.
