Very screwed computer!! urgent help...
hi, well just today when i was playing the sims 2 university, the game froze which is something that had never happened before and so i waited just to make sure that it wasnt frozen but i restarted the computer after a while.
(my xp has two users, me and my sisters) p.s : i was using my account while playing the sims.
then when i went back into my account it says welcome (blah blah blah) but stays stuck like that for a few minutes which has never happened as well and then it goes in but when it does some box pops up saying that my user account is screwed or something and it couldnt load some file, (it also said something about my hard drive)
then i click OK and my background was grey and ALL my icons and everything had disappeared. ALL the files and icons on the smart menu and everything were gone as well, then i went into my sisters account and everything worked fine, i could even access my files from her account but the internet was somehow screwed, it didnt work....
i check the networth and 0 packages were being recieved while 2 were being sent... -.-"
and the weird thing is that though i cant access web sites, i can still play online games. WEIRD!!!!!!!
so now i ask for everyones help!! XD
i got my computer not long ago
P4 3.0
768mb ddr ram
128mb FX graphics card
ASUS P5P800 motherboard
what else can i say....execpt help...

First off I would try a system restore. Start | Run | %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
Choose yesterday or earlier.
If that doesn't help then:
Look in your event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details. Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with the crash today.
Also if you get any errors please copy them exactly & post

ok, i tried system restore and went back a few days ago but that didnt seem to fix the problem so i am listing down the errors below:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
EVENT ID:1515
Windows was unable to load the registry. This is often caused by insufficient memory or insufficient security rights.
DETAIL - System could not allocate the required space in a registry log. for C:\Documents and Settings\JOSEPH\ntuser.dat
------------------------------------------------------------------------
EVENT ID:1502
Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
DETAIL - System could not allocate the required space in a registry log.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
EVENT ID:1508
Windows has backed up this user's profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backed up profile the next time this user logs on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

OPPS, i forgot to list the source, (the are all Userenv)
those 3 errors were in application and after that happened, Lots and LOTS of these two appeared in the System catorgory:
(the two just kept repeating) opening and closing it says
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ID:7035
SOURCE: NONE
The SSDP Discovery Service service was successfully sent a start control.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ID:7036
SOURCE""NONE
The SSDP Discovery Service service entered the stopped state.

Is the problem only on your account? Sis ok? Are you using the built-in Administrator account? Or? Are you on a network?
One possibility: If your old profile is corrupted in some way, you can move the files and settings from the corrupt profile to a new profile.
Another: User Profile Hive Cleanup Service
Another: If you have the XP CD insert it & choose Exit from the Menu (but leave it in the drive)
Then go to: start | run | sfc /scannow

its built in admin and yeah my sister's account is ok, i guess ill just have to move them.
THNX alot Jephree!

I would try the other fixes first just to see if they help.
I wouldn't want to leave that main account in a corrupted state.
You should anyway create a new admin account for yourself so that that built-in account is not subject to corruption.
