XP will not allow Direct CD installation

    Hi

I am trying to restore <backup.pst> files for Outlook (and other data) from CDs which were created under ME using Adaptec Direct CD Ver 3.0 prior to a clean install of XP Pro, XP Office Pro.

Outlook recognises the files but XP reports:-
"File access denied. Youdo not have the required permission to accessthe file F:\backup.pst"

How can I, or what will read these files under XP, or do I have to re-build ME +Office, re-install Direct CD, restore the files in Outlook backup Outlook again using a different burner (which one?) then transfer as before on cd to the Outlook system running under XP?

    Thanks jephree.
In the end I moved the file to C:\
    rt clicked Properties-Change-open with-MS outlook
This after de-selecting "Simple File Sharing" as per MS Help.
Most now retrieved butstill missing some folders which somehow cannot have been copied.
Is there a simple way to capture named files for backup to a pecific location on a regular, perhaps scheduled basis?

Outlook needs files to be read/write capable. IF its on the CD its read only and you get that Error. When I worked at Dell we tried creating backups this way and it didnt work as expected, you still needed to copy it back to the HDD and then un-write protect the file.

Thanks AphJN. Could this be done as an autorun xxx.bat file on the cd?
