    URGENT Screen resolution/output problem!

I was stupidly clicking around on my desktop, and changed the true color resolution to a very high setting. (One that my monitor cannot read.) Now I'm getting the blank screen with the message saying "Input not supported." I know what this means, that my monitor does not support the output that I clicked, but I need to know how to fix it and I have a feeling that it's going to be pretty hard and probably involve possessing a monitor that supports the higher output setting to fix it. Does ANYONE know an easier at-home way to fix this problem? Perhaps in Safe-mode? PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

Version of Windows? Make and model of monitor? Make and model of video adapter? Yes you can probably fix it from safe mode but please give us more information. If your not sure how to start your computer in safe mode please click HERE and follow the instructions for your version of Windows,

I'll find out about the makes and models very shortly, but int he mean time, the click HERE doesn't have a link! could you direct me to the page on how to start the computer in safe mode for windows XP Professional? And I can't do it from the computer itself because the screen isnt comming up, so I need ot know how to do it WHILE the computer is starting up.

    thanks!

I'm using a Dell Demension 4600 CPU and the monitor is an "Envision" Flatscreen monitor. The video adapter came with the 4600 so I'm assuming it's a Dell model.

Should I try to Safe Mode plan to reset the True Color Resolution to normal?

And Also, have you any idea whether a dell Dimension 4600 monitor is compatable with the input from a true color 1280 by 1024? (That's what it's set to which is why I can't use my computer... my monitor won't accept that output! But the one I'm using now might, I'm trying to figure it out because maybe I can just hook this monitor up to it and fix the problem that way.)

Try it yes... Can you get into safe mode? Is this a 17" Envision? or? is there a model #? Does the monitor have it's own switches; start; menu; auto; etc.?

Push buttons on the lower part of the monitor? If so try "Auto" or else bring up "Menu' to see if you can change stuff. If you can get back into the computer go to Display > Settings > Troubleshoot

If you can't get into safe mode; do you have the XP CD?
