Enable DHCP and then make the following change to the DNS subnet mask

that subnet mask is for my internet connection! shouldn't i be concern only about the Local Networking?

My WinXP runs a dial-up internet, my Win2K connects to WinXP through crossover connection!

    thanks

As I understand it for the network to function properly all computers need to be in the same work group or domain & on the same subnet. That being said they need to have unique computer names & IP addresses. If computer A has a subnet of 255.255.255.255 & computer B has a subnet of 255.255.255.0 they will not be able to see one another via the network. I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.
