When I click on my software icons for Microsoft Word, Excel, Encyclopedia Brittanica, Adobe, in fact any of the software loaded and when I try to enter a new user name for XP I get the following message: THIS PROGRAM DOES NOT HAVE A FILE ASSOCIATED WITH IT FOR PERFORMING THIS ACTION. CREATE AN ASSOCIATION IN THE FOLDER OPTIONS CONTROL PANEL.

Can anybody help me - it's really annoying. The only thing not affected is the internet explorer icon. Thank you in advance.

Go here http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm and you can download the exe file association fix for XP. Read and follow the instructions and it should be right.
