Angry computer will not boot up

    Hi everyone

hope someone can help me, I have a tiny 70176TM210T4 AMD 64 athlon 3400 processor and ati graphix. Great machine untill a couple of days ago. Came off internet, shut down machine. I cannot get it to boot up now. It seems to go through the start of the post tests then throws uo the Windows did not start last time etc etc. I have tried all options safe mode , last know working condition, command promp etc etc, nothing happens, just restarts and end up back at the smae screen. Must add it has a sata raid hard drive, dont know if this adds to problem or not. Do not want to wipe everything if i do not need to as there are a lot of games and photos and work stuff on hard drive.

hope to hear from someone soon.

I'm off to the gym now to take my frustration out on the equipment there

Does it reboot from choosing the command prompt? or from actually entering a command?

    You can go to: http://www.bootdisk.com/
& create: Windows XP 6 Disk Setup Set

Then follow the directions here: http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm
To run the Recovery Console from CD boot with the Windows XP CD (or with the optional 6 floppy disk set) and select "R" at the Welcome Screen.

    Then run chkdsk

You have no idea what happened? No new software? Any virus/ trojan issues?

    Hi
thanks for the reply, I will have a look at the web sites you suggest

my computer just reboots in a countious loop untill I switch it off at the power switch

the last thing I was doing before this problem happened I was on the internet, so maybe a virus or something although my antivirus is up to date

I will let you know how I get on

    thanks

    Hi
I had to format my hard disk, trying to install xp again but I get a message saying unknown disc, no disk in drive. I think it has something to do with the fact that it is a sata hard disk

    any ideas anyone

If you are loading Windows XP onto a computer with a serial ATA (SATA) hard drive, you will have to manually load the SATA drivers.

Copy the drivers from motherboard support CD *\DriverDisk\SATA\*.* into root directory of floppy disk. (i.e. root directory of floppy disk should contain \pide and \sata folders, txtsetup.oem, etc. files.)

Then, boot system by Windows XP installation CD, when the message "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver" shows up, press "F6". Then, press "S" to specify additional device when next screen pops up. Put the driver floppy disk you made in and press enter to continue. If the floppy disk is made successfully, the installation program will ask for selecting driver. Please then select "VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller(Windows XP)".) After SATA driver loaded and Windows XP can recognize the SATA HDD, you can continue to install Windows XP as usual.
