windows emergency
well i opened up adaware SE pro after i rebooted, and it says some registry is attempting to start up, well i allow some, and block some. and i reboot and i notice that windows no longer recognizes exe files, and almost no files, besides IE for some reason, and i cant access system restore command prompt or adaware to use its system restore. any help will be very appreciated

Try running Windows XP System Restore from the command prompt. Now choose a restore point before the problem began and see if that resolves the problem. See instructions below
Boot into safe mode/Log on with Admin Privileges/ Type: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe at the command prompt. Then press enter.
To get to the command prompt click Start, click Run & then type CMD and click OK.

Try System Restore from Safe Mode.
F8 between BIOS/Logo & Windows XP.
Choose Start in Safe Mode then System Restore.

well i tried system restore didnt change anything, i found a loophole that i could use any exe by usnin shorcuts that windows didnt recognize and point it to an exe. so i used system restore to march 2nd and i get the same problem and its 2 AM and ive been up for about 1 hour fixing. but i do have a partition on my drive that i could use to back my data up and reinstall windows

Windows® XP File Association Fixes
Also you can try: start | run | (type) sfc /scannow
you will need your XP disk.
or if you need to go further this is a good guide:

Ok im gonna run those files now, and is there anyway i can delete the userpreference file within adaware? so i can just allow them o yeah, when my registry got screwed my computer was displaying on my tv through composite video. and i cant access properties and change it.
EDIT: windows doesnt know how to associate reg files, so i cant use that only hope is to delete preference file of adaware and allow registry

Can you access it via Safe Mode?
