    More Hardware Problems

I successfully installed my new dvd burner but had a problem with my original cd/dvd rom. I purchased a new one and installed it...this is the master, dvd burner is the slave, same ide cable which is the secondary one. When I initially installed it all was fine but after rebooting my dvd burner is no longer recognised by the system...one boot it says that it cannot detect the drive...driver is set to auto....as before I am pretty new to the hardware changing stuff....does anyone have any ideas what I have done wrong. If it helps the dvd biurner is the pioneer 109 and the new cd/dvd rom is a lite-on. I am running windows corp edition. Thanks

If you do alot of burning I would set the burner as a master. If you do alot more playback than burning you should be ok as you are.

Are you sure the jumpers are set properly?

So the drive is not seen under My Computer?

Is it seen in the BIOS?

    1. I would unplug both & boot once without either.

    2. Make sure the jumpers are set right.

    3. Install the master & boot. (If it is seen & all is well) Shut down again.

    4. Install the slave & boot. (see how they show up now)

Watch the BIOS POST or choose the summary screen to make sure the BIOS sees the drives.

    The master is? Yes?

    But not the slave?

Are you sure the jumpers are set right?

Are you sure you have the proper cable?

Are you sure the red edge is adjacent to the power connector? (red right from rear)
