    Unhappy Norton Uninstall Problems

Hey! I need help... Just got myself a new machine, which came with Norton Internet Security 2004 bundled. All was fine to begin with, but then I noticed the system really starting to slow down - internet was much slower than it should have been, so I disabled internet security, seemed fix it up. But other applications were lagging, so I figured there were virus-type things happening. Tried to run Norton Antivirus, it just popped up onto the screen then disappeared! Cant open internet security either.

Anyhow, downloaded AdAware SE, which found, and killed a whole bunch of stuff with a mydoom worm (and some other, less damaging stuff). Still slow (task manager always has CPU usage at 100%), I think Norton is mostly to blame and try to uninstall - thought I got rid of antivirus, but their update application wont uninstall because it is apparently being used by antivirus and internet security. And internet security tells me that I need to open it and log onto an account with supervisor access... which is pretty hard when it doesnt open. Have tried programs like uninstaller pro and remove, they are no go either - interestingly, there are about 10 listinings for internet security, and a couple for the antivirus - I figure it is running multiple times in the background and slowing things down (but I have no idea what i'm doing...). The extra listings give an error message "this MSI must be launched through Setup". Otherwise, same deal as before.

What should I do? Is it actually Norton, or could it be something else? I've only had this machine for 2 days

    Thanks

Uninstalling and reinstalling Norton Internet Security, Norton AntiSpam, or Norton Personal Firewall 2004

    Also:

please follow owen's Instructions and then post your log in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section (Not Here).

    Also:

Since it is almost new: consider running your Recovery CD to start all over.
