Hello Everyone---thanks in advance for your help.

Here's the problem::

My computer is freezing during startup----So I tried to Restore--but got a message saying that my computer can't restore to XXX date---I've tried many dates that have restore points---all get the same message.

I called HP only to be told that it might be a problem causing me to not restore. and for them to help me---it will cost a minimum of $40 (I don't have the money).

I have Windows XP---HP Pavilion 512c

Is there something that I can try to do to fix my computer freezing problem???

I have tried using Microsofts ideas--none worked

Also tried to restore in "safemode" and that didn't work either (restore wouldn't go past August--and my problems started before then)---but restore still had a "unable to restore" message.

Any other ideas???

you can boot from your xp cd & do a repair installation.
