No DLL Library and want to get rid of Microsoft user accounts
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I thought it would be a good idea to set up 2 separate accounts for my husband and I when we log in so that we could each have our own favourite places. Then I read that the administrator account shouldn't be used to access the internet. So I changed my account (adminsitratior) to limited use and his to administrator. Then i tried to set up Microsoft Messenger through his account which worked fine and the icons are there for the microphone, speakers. But we don't want to use this one to access the internet so I tried to set up Microsoft messenger through mine and I get a message to say
"Could not load the DLL library"
C:\WINDOWS\USER32.DLL
Therefore Messenger cannot be loaded.
I think it would be best to get rid of the user accounts at login, because everything was working well till I set these up. How do I do this? And what do I do about the missing DLL library?
Thank you so much in advance
Frances

goto control panel/user accounts then delete them but you still need an account to operate xp it is best to keep the admin for main system changes only and then set up one for you and your hubby
with regards to the missing .dll file is it giving you any more info on what is exactly missing
hope this helps

Thanks for quick reply, Spud.
The DLL Lbrary seems to be:
C:\WINDOWS\system32
C:\I386 DL_File
Is this any help?
Re admin accounts:
I thought that by loading Mesenger through the admin account (husbands) it would appear also in my account but it hasn't. He had the about missing files in his account because I've checked in Windows Explorer. Could I copy them to my account, and, if so, how?
Thanks again

try right click copy then go to your account then right click paste
please let me know how you get on so i can help you further if you need it
hope this helps

At what stage do I paste?

i would personally put it on your desktop windows explorer should find it there if not
To be certain Windows can find it, best to copy it to the two most likely folders: C:\WINDOWS and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
Won't do any harm to put it in two folders. IN Win XP that file is in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
Right click the file which is on your Desktop. Select 'COPY'. Now Open each of the two folders I mentioned in turn, right click a blank space in each folder
and choose 'PASTE'. The file will be copied to the folder.

Spud, Thank you again. But when I copy the files: C:WINDOWS\system32(563KB) and C:\I386 (261KB, DL_File) and then right click to paste, the paste option is greyed out.
Since my husbands file is okay, perhaps I should make mine the admin again and just use the internet through his?

i dont like to be beaten but they may be your best choice or make them both administators or if you are doing that it might be simpler to have just one account just out of interest did you try the simple click and drag from one folder yto the other one
desktop to desktop then from the desktop to the folders
please let me know how you get on for future reference

Dear Spud, I don't think I can drag from desktop to desktop because you have to log off and change users.
Maybe I will have to reload XP Professional?
Or, maybe I should use system restore? Would this do the trick? If anything was inadvertently deleted, ie, the DLL library, would it also be restored? And would the user accounts be restored to when they were okay?
Thanks for helping
Fran
