put the file you want to click and drag on your desktop then go in to my computer minimise the my computer screeen so that you can also see the part of the desktop where your sdaved .dll file then simply click and drag to the desired folder it should put it on the new desktop you then simply open that accounr and install it to where ever you want it
hope this helps

Would it be best to use system restore? In that way would any files which may have been deleted in error, ie DLL library, be restored again and also this would take the system back to a date before I mucked around with the user accounts?

Thanks for all your help, Spud. I only thought about system restore after looking at Microsoft's help page.
But I don't know if System Restore will restore the missing files. Do you? It would be great if it did.

just wanted to add that if you have a full version XP CD you can insert disk & then go to:
Start | Run & type in: sfc /scannow
This should replace all system files.
hope this helps

Thank you so much to Spud and Jephree. You certainly don't give up on anyone!
I have just used system restore and the missing files have reappeared.
Jephree, I have had a look at the admin/user accounts where you suggested and it seems that there are 3 columns - Name, Full Name and Descritption.
The first account is the administrator account which is the one you mentioned that you shouldn't use for accessing the internet. Under this there are five other names:
Francis
Guest
Help Assistant
Peter
Support_38
There is nothing in the description column for Francis and Peter so I assume that these are the ones that I set up? How then can I delete them? Will I have to log in as the administrator account (the first in the list)? And what do I do?
Thanks
Frances

in XP Pro: via Admin Tools | Comp Management | Local Users & Groups
ASPNET:
(this account will appear in association with .NET Framework 1.1 if you install that. It is ok.)
Administrator built in:
This is the Main Admin Account. (It is suggested to change the name & password protect this account. & only use it for system changes.)
Guest built in:
It is advised to Disable this account. (unless you use Remote Access)
Help Assistant:
It is advised to Disable this account.
SUPPORT_38:
It is advised to Disable this account. (both the above are created for a support tech to remotely access & work on your computer)(disable/ enable are always changable)
Frances & Peter are the accounts you created. You can delete & recreate as you will.
Log on as (built-in) Administrator:
To delete accounts just right click & delete. To disable: rt click then choose Properties: then Disable.
Your deleted accounts may also show up under C:\Documents & Settings\Frances(for example) ...you can delete this folder as well.
Reboot or log off after making changes & you should be able to make a new Frances(for example) account.
If you just want to change the name & or status of an account (plus add passwords) then go thru: Control Panel: User Accounts. (the built in accounts may be invisible here).
Hope this helps.

Thanks for such a comprehensive answer, Jephree. It's all new info for me, really interesting. I'm going to try to get rid of personal accounts, since they aren't needed and are just confusing me although I may just have to put up with them since I think the built in admin account has been password protected by someone else.
